A two component Urethane Primer Surfacer/Sealer is formulated to offer excellent adhesion, superior fill, and ease of sanding.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
#5885 is a two component Urethane Primer Surfacer/Sealer formulated to offer excellent adhesion, superior fill, and ease of sanding. With two optional mix ratios: 4:1 as a primer surfacer and 4:1:1 as a sealer this product can be sanded in as little as 1 hour, air dry at 70 degrees! As a sealer it can be topcoated in 30 minutes. #5885 is light gray in color and can be tinted with any urethane compatible basecoat toner up to 5%.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
1.Wash area thoroughly with soap and water to remove contaminates that
solvent based cleaners cannot remove effectively.
2. Clean repair area with 5 STAR #5900Wax & Grease Remover.
3. Completely sand surface with 180-220 grit paper and re-clean with XTREME #5902 FinalWipe.
For maximum adhesion and corrosion resistance, treat bare metal with a quality metal conditioning system or
prime with 5 STAR #5414 and #5415 Self-Etch Primer.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:
PRIMER SURFACER - Apply 2-3 medium wet coats with a 15 minute flash between
each coat when using #5187 or #5188. When using #5186 apply 2-3 medium wet coats with a 10 minute flash between each coat.Use 40-50 psi at the gun or 18 psi at the cap when using a HVLP. 5 STAR recommends a final blocking
with 600 grit or finer paper before topcoating. Note: Film thickness, flash times and temperatures may effect
sanding times.
PRIMER SEALER - Apply 1 full wet coat allowing a 30 minute flash before topcoating.Use 40-50 psi at the gun or 18 psi at the cap when using a
HVLP. 5 STAR recommends a final blocking with 600 grit or finer paper before topcoating. Note: Film thickness, flash time and temperature may
effect topcoat.
POT LIFE:
Pot life is 45 minutes at 77°F with #5187 and #5188. When using #5186 the
pot life will be 35 minutes at 77° F.

RECOATING:
#5885 Primer Surfacer must be sanded prior to recoating after recommended dry times.
ACCELERATOR & FISH EYE:
Do not use accelerator or fish eye eliminator in this product.
PAINTING FLEXIBLE PARTS:
#5885 is not recommended for use on flexible substrates.
CLEAN UP:
Clean spray equipment immediately after use with 5 Star #5214 VirginWash Thinner or Spray Gun Cleaner.
